ALA accreditation update?

Hi,

I and a few others were just wondering if anyone has an update on the ALA accreditation progress. I don’t have a class with Roy so I haven’t really heard anything since last summer. If no one has heard anything recently I am wondering if maybe we (AESISSA) can ask Roy for an update.

Thanks,
Erin

April 22nd - Royal Oak MIS celebration!

Merci tout le monde de votre rétroaction!
We're estimated at just over 20 people now, so I think it is appropriate to say a majority have requested April 22nd or said that either date was good.

Je vous confirme donc tous la date, l'heure et le lieu de la célébration.
We will thus be celebrating Thursday, April 22nd, at 5:30pm
Location: Royal Oak at 221 Echo Dr.

If you would still like to RSVP, please send an e-mail to aesissa@gmail.com

If you would like to donate balloons or help decorate the Royal Oak just before 5:30pm that day, please reply on directly to this post!

On se revoit à la fête!

Use of "X" for "first round" of interviews

Bonjour tout le monde!

So we now have two postings up; although the second is a French posting.
Being francophone, this second posting raised a question: If I applied to this second posting, but it was not what I wanted at the end of the day, would I have no choice but to rank it 2 at the end of first interview round as I only have two interviews (let's say); or would I be able to use 1 "X" during our particular process? Did I have that option in our delayed exceptional process?

According to Danielle Délorme, the answer is yes. I was told today that we will have the opportunity to use one and only one X in our first round ranking (March 22nd). After that though, there will be no X.

Thought it was important to explicit.

OC Transpo student bus pass REFERENDUM

I am certainly not the only one who has recently received an e-mail regarding upcoming GSAED elections in March, but I would like to take a moment to remind everyone that there will be an important referendum question during this upcoming GSAED election on the main campus.

While I find it hard to motivate myself to go to the main campus to vote, I think it will be important to speak out about how we feel about having imposed OCTranspo bus passes included in tuition fees. This motion has already been voted on and passed for undergrads at UOttawa and Careleton University. This will be particularly important to those doing a second full-time year in 2010-2011 (even coop students who still pay full-time fees for the 4 classes they will replace with coop)
http://ottawa.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20100213/OTT_bus_pass_100213/20100213/?hub=OttawaHome

As graduate students may reflect different needs and be at a different point in their life than undergraduate students, I think it is oh so much more controversial for us to address this.

Don't forget to vote on March 16th, 17th and 18th.

For those interested, GSAED will be holding a debate and information session on Monday March 8th at 4pm at the Terminus (2nd floor of the University Centre, behind Tim Horton's) where one can ask questions to the candidates and the campaign leaders for referendum questions as well.

Céline.
